Sine Auctore - Homiliarium

Two folia. Fragment of a Caroligian homiletic collection, here on the one hand the Homilies on the Gospel of the Feast of St. Stephen (end) and on the Epistel and Gospel on the Feast of the Innocents, thus a part from the Christmas circle (missing between these Feasts the Homilies on the Feast of John the Evangelist), and on the other hand the fragment of a Homily on the cento of Christ’s Passion on Palm Sunday. Contrary to the opinion of Miquel dels Sants Gros i Pujol, the fragments seem to have nothing to do with the Smaragdus-manuscript mentioned in the testament of bishop Idalguer of Vic: see there. The fragments stem from the archive of the parish church of Santa Maria de Borredà (Berguedà): GROS I PUJOL 2006, p. 23 no 8 (with figure of fol. 1r); ALTÉS I AGUILÓ 2012, p. 15, 18 and 32–36; PLANAS I BADENAS 2013, p. 16 n. 38; DE PUIG I OLIVER 2017–2019, p. 573 n. 107; ALTURO I PERUCHO/ALAIX I GIMBERT 2019, p. 136 (“sembla d’origen narbonès i dels primers anys del segle X”). VONES 2013, p. 176 speculates about the obsolescence of this manuscript in the very moment of existence of new Homilary compilations of Narbonnais origin. The fragment is not mentioned by BISCHOFF 2014, 470 sq.
