Welcome!
Carolingian Catalonia is the database of the Carolingian legacy of medieval Septimania and Catalonia. It covers the manuscripts, fragments, catalogue entries, and further traces of the rich Carolingian textual culture of this middle ground between southern France and the wider Iberian world.
The search function allows you to search entries regarding authors, works, manuscript shelfmarks, and footnotes with the bibliographies of the individual textual witnesses. You can also use the browse function to explore the database by manuscripts, medieval library catalogues, authors, works, modern archives and libraries, and the dating of the textual witnesses. The bibliography lists the short titles (texts and studies) cited in the database for each textual witness.
You will also find information on the research projects behind the database, the scholarly rationale for its development, and the team of researchers involved. Finally, the Technical Details section explains the database's design and its technical architecture in greater detail.
The content of the database was prepared by Matthias M. Tischler, and encoded by numerous collaborators. The database is continuously growing and improving. If you find any errors or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us. For content issues, write to Matthias M. Tischler, for technical issues, open an issue on the GitHub repository or contact Jan Odstrcilik.
