No manuscript, Pseudo-Isidore - Decretalia

If RICHÉ 1991, p. 374 is referring to this copy (“‘Décrétales’ des pontifes romains”), he assumes a production in Rome. According to Horst Fuhrmann eventually a copy of the class A 2: TORRES Y AMAT 1836, p. 337b; ROCHER 1872–1874; DE LA FUENTE Y ALCÁNTARA 1883; BEER 1908, 1, p. 39–41; BEER/GARCÍA Y VILLADA 1915, p. 44 with n. 2 (with the erroneous assumption that this manuscript was the model of Barcelona, Arxiu de la Corona d’Aragó, Ms. Ripoll 77); VALLS I TABERNER 1925a, p. 48 sq.; ALBAREDA I RAMONEDA 1931, p. 241 and p. 306 n. 3; D’ABADAL I DE VINYALS 1948, p. 235 sq.; MUNDÓ I MARCET 1962, p. 211 n. 14; FUHRMANN 1972–1974, 2, p. 404 sq. n. 122; DELCOR I ALEXIS 1974, p. 47 and p. 57 with n. 58; MUNDÓ I MARCET 1985, p. 94; IBARBURU Y ASURMENDI 1987d, p. 277 with n. 28 and p. 280 n. 28; IBARBURU Y ASURMENDI 1987i, p. 324 n. 3; MUNDÓ I MARCET 1988, p. 117 with n. 99 (“copia … posiblement de la ‘Hispana’, o tal vez de la ‘Dionysiana’”); Millenum 1989, p. 110 no 45 [ANSCARI MANUEL MUNDÓ I MARCET]; MUNDÓ I MARCET 1991b, p. 380; CASTIÑEIRAS Y GONZÁLEZ 1999a, p. 254 n. 14 (“coŀleció de decretals hispana”); CASTIÑEIRAS Y GONZÁLEZ 1999d (“coŀleció de decretals hispana”); GROS I PUJOL 1999b, p. 758 (“Per desgràcia, segons sembla, aquest manuscript desapargué durant la revolució francesa”); ZIMMERMANN 2003, 1, p. 469; ZIMMERMANN 2003, 2, p. 797 with n. 552; PLADEVALL I FONT 2007a, p. 41 (“la Coŀlecció canònica de Dionis el Petit”) mention a law codex written by the monk John of Ripoll in 958 and donated by Count Borell of Barcelona to the Cathedral of Le Puy. This is the codex which according to BEER 1908, 1, p. 39; GROS I PUJOL 1999b, p. 758 was seen by Jean Mabillon during his stay in Le Puy in 1683, where he copied the colophon (MABILLON 1706, p. 537): “Anno incarnationis dominicae DCCCCLVIII. indictione I. II kalendas Octobris, hic codex nuncupatus Decretalia Pontificum Romanorum, scriptus est sub Johanne Papa, Hlothario rege, Borrello marchioni praecipiente, Arnulfo praesuli summae sedis Gerundae et cuncta congregatio Riopollensis cenobii. Ego Johannes monachus atque diaconus transscripsi, non meae voluntatis mendosae, sed lima rectitudinis emendatum atque distinctum …”. The production in 958 means that it would be an early Ripoll product under abbot Arnulf (948–954) who is considered as the first real promoter of the Ripoll scriptorium and library. Since 954, Arnulf was also Bishop of Girona.
