The catalogue of this Benedictine abbey mentions a copy of this work: “Item est aliud volumen quod dicitur liber Maracdi, in quo tota series regule explanatur”, Catalogus codicum manuscriptorum S. Pontii Tomeriae a. 1276, p. 542 no 82: MANITIUS 1911a, p. 463; SPANNAGEL/ENGELBERT 1974, p. XXI; WITTERS 1975, p. 370 with n. 145 and p. 376 n. 145. Is this perhaps Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ms. lat. 4213 (see there)? This manuscript shows a comparable form of the author’s name: “Exposicio regule Maracde” (fol. 1r). Moreover, we know a copy of this work mentioned among many manuscripts from Albi, which were sent by M. Boudon to Colbert on December 12, 1682: “Smaragdus in regulam Sancti Benedicti” (Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ms. lat. 9364, fol. 86r). Yet the manuscript catalogue of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières was in Albi in the 17th century. This witness is not mentioned by RÄDLE 1974; WITTERS 1975.
