10r-10v, Bonifatius - Praefatio ad Sigibertum

Here anonymously transmitted dedication letter to his Ars grammatica, which is missing here; instead of it is following a copy of Tatuinus’ Ars grammatica. This manuscript, to which – at least from the codicological and palaeographical standpoint – belonged perhaps also the quire Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ms. lat. 8318, fol. 73r–80v, is written by the female copyist Eugenia, who mentions herself in a longer colophon in Greek letters on fol. 54r (LEHMANN 1929, p. 19 with the wrong folio-number “94r” and without quoting the article by Omont, see below; the colophon is missing in Colophons de manuscrits 1967, p. 54). The manuscript must have been very early in the Septimano-Catalan context according to the corrections in Visigothic minuscule on fol. 47r/v and the poems on fol. 54r/v added in hybrid Visigothic-Caroline minuscule. The 10th-century corrections and neumes on fol. 1r (Catalan orisci) and fol. 54v (Aquitain neumes) confirm this localization in the Pyrenean context. The manuscript is mentioned among the 4o-format manuscripts in the catalogue of manuscripts which were sent on December 10, 1680 by Cardinal Pierre de Bonzi, Archbishop of Narbonne (1673–1703), via M. Bouchon to Colbert: “liber grammaticae” (Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ms. lat. 9364, fol. 54r): Catalogus codicum manuscriptorum 1744b, p. 373 col. b no 2 (“N. universalis Ecclesiae Matricularii, ad Sigibertum tractatus de grammatica, ex Prisciano, Donato, Phoca & aliis grammaticis concinnatus … Is codex decimo sæculo videtur exaratus”); KEIL 1857, p. 45r-45v, Walahfrid Strabo - Institutio de nomine, pronomine et verbo

Here only excerpts of his rewritten version of Priscian’s work which give only the first paragraph of every declination. 54).
