Ado of Vienne - Martyrologium (?)

Until 1811, the Abbey of Montserrat preserved this copy of probably Ado of Vienne’s Martyrology which showed typical local feats and important necrological entries of Catalonia. From the correspondence with Benet Ribas i Ribas, Jaume Caresmar knew two old copies, of which this is one of them: “Dua martyrologia antigua …”: ALBAREDA I RAMONEDA 1919, p. 104, 120 and p. 206–211 no 23 (the text is not identified); BARAUT I OBIOLS 1954–1955, p. 373 no 6 (the text is not identified); OLIVAR I DAYDÍ 1967, p. 78 n. 26 (the text is not identified). The inventory of manuscripts of the archive by José de Vargas Ponce and Joan de Sans i de Barutell, Barcelona, June 24, 1804, mentions two copies, of which one is our manuscript: “Dos Martirologios antiguos en donde se hallan varias apuntaciones e historias de la Casa y del Reyno”: BARAUT I OBIOLS 1954–1955, p. 371 no 1 (the text is not identified). The further two copies mentioned in the same inventory seem to be other manuscripts: “Martirologios y Calendarios antiguos con carias apuntaciones y sucesos de los tiempos. 2 tomos”, ibid., p. 372 no 3 (the text is not identified). The manuscript is also described by Jaume Pasqual in his unpublished Sacrae Antiquitatis Cataloniae Monumenta (Barcelona, Biblioteca de Catalunya, Ms. 729/III, fol. 46 sq.): IGLESIAS I FONSECA 2002, p. 153 with n. 18 sq. (“finales del s. XII”); ALTURO I PERUCHO e. a. 2003, p. 238 with n. 32 [ANSCARI MANUEL MUNDÓ I MARCET]; NOVOKHATKO 2019, p. 26 n. 19 (speaks only of one manuscript). The manuscript is not mentioned by QUENTIN 1908, p. 466–468; JULLIEN/PERELMAN 1994, p. 33 sq.
